BEN DUSTIN
I started photography in my freshman year, hoping
to learn what it was that made my aunt so happy with her job as a professional. I quickly learned that the
art was very complex and such a challenge that it
was insane not to get caught up and enjoy the activity of photography. I went through every level of the class
that I could register for, finally ending up in the AP
class at Broadneck Senior High.
While my major will be computer sciences and engineering, my hobby and artistic eye will always be with my camera. Even though I have gotten very used to and good with the stuff in the dark room, I am a slave to my computer and have found digital photography to be an equal challenge to the chemist I get to play under an amber light.
I will be attending the University of Kentucky in the fall with a major of Computer Sciences. My camera will follow and my hobby of the digital will always be with me, making art of the light, and of the code to follow.

Photography has always been a passion of mine, since I was a small child. It was not until high school that I really realized what I could do with this art form. As soon as I began taking Photo 1 class at Broadneck Senior High, I noticed that I was really getting the ‘hang of things’ quickly and beginning to really love photography. I went on to take Photo 2 and 3, and finally my senior year I took AP 2-D Design.
I began with using a 35 mm camera when I was of a young age. I used my mom’s camera and never let her use it; I made it my job to take the photos wherever we went. In high school I started with the 35 mm and then broadened my work into digital. Nowadays I mostly focus on digital photography, using my digital SLR camera and editing on the computer.
I plan on attending Anne Arundel Community College for 2 years and then transferring to an art school with a focus on photography. I want to make photography my life job, and eventually work with organizations like National Geographic. Photography will forever be my passion, and I will always have a camera by my side.
