She won 2 blue ribbons in this year's Anne Arundel County Fair for First Place Photography. Kylie will be attending the University of Southern California, and plans to double major in photography and math. She hopes to combine her loves of both of these topics into a career in intelligence. Wherever life leads her, she is excited for the future and knows that photography will remain a major interest in her life.

Rachael Chapman

Growing up, my sister was always the artistic one. From a young age she was always winning awards and having her work displayed in schools and various art shows. I guess I really started taking pictures to prove that I was creative too. Now, thanks to a little sibling rivalry and a tinge of jealousy, I have found a passion that will stay with me for the rest of my life. My first real introduction into photography was during my first year at Broadneck High School; just like every other freshman looking for an easy A and an interesting art class, I took Photo I. I quickly fell in love with digital photography, and pursued it for the next four years. I couldn’t say exactly what made me fall in love; maybe it is that, somehow, the camera shows the beauty of the world in a way many people cannot see. Looking through the lens is like gaining a new perspective, a filter through which imperfections become beautiful and the world can be it’s own paradox. Next fall I will attend Towson University, and though I don’t plan on majoring in Photography, I honestly cannot imagine my life without it. I know I will continue to push myself and evolve as an artist during my time at Towson, and carry it with me through life.
